Qualifying for Singapore Biathlon 2006There are two parts to the Singapore Biathlon - a 1.5km swim and a 10km run.The run is not a problem but the swim (in open sea) is a little intimidating. In addition to the choppy waves, you have fellow competitors who allegedly will pull your legs or swim over you. Not to mention the ugly swim caps u have to wear. But even after I crossed the psychological barrier of deciding to go for it, there is also the issue of the qualifying time trial.30 laps in 40 mins - that's what it takes to qualify. My current timing - 30 laps in an hour. That's a whole 20 mins to shave off!Training started last night (30 laps in the old NIE pool). Trifam people were also having their regular endurance swim trainings. Motivated and discouraged at the same time. Motivated cos they just kept going and going so I also kept going and going. Discouraged because I was doing nowhere near what they were doing. Will start Mon swim sessions with Tiwazz and Bala next week. They will help me with my strokes (presumably swimming is mostly about technique). 20 mins to shave off in 8 weeks. Can? Dun know... just try loh. Wish me luck!Dream It. Plan It. Do It.
